News from the Neubig lab

 

These are some of the undergraduate students that have worked with me on research projects here at SIU for the 2015-2016 academic year, including Weston Biver, Andrew Bleich, Kristina Jordan, Salama Matimbwa, Gavin Stonehouse, Will Vignovich, and Kyle Wright.  A special thanks to Andrew Bleich for his UGA work in the lab.  And another special thanks to Annie Bileck and Kristina Jordan for their UGA work in the herbarium with Dr. Garwood.

Summer 2016, Special Congratulations to...

-Undergraduate students Austin Szubryt and Kristina Jordan for receiving REACH grants from CURCA (SIU). 

-Austin Szubryt for receiving a Botanical Society of America research award. 

-MS student Nick Flowers for receiving the Graduate Dean’s Fellowship. 

-Will Vignovich and Gavin Stonehouse for their excellent presentation on Dichanthelium for the Illinois Native Plant Society.

May 2017, Dr. Lucas Majure visits Southern Illinois for research on Opuntia of the midwest.


August 2017, The total solar eclipse comes to Carbondale, and with it the eminent Drs. Mark Whitten & Fabiany Herrera, as well as family.  Young Henry makes his first hike through Little Grand Canyon and we are visited by a famous botanical blogger (http://www.indefenseofplants.com/).

August 2017, The first SUPERB Scholarship Summer Institute in Pickwick Landing State Park, funded by the S-STEM program of NSF.


May 2018, Undergraduate students Keegan Shults & Breanna Whitley receive REACH grants o pursue their research activities in the Neubig lab in the coming school year.

July 2018, Graduate students Janice Valencia & Marisa Szubryt, as well as undergraduate students Keegan Shults, Kierstin Lipe, & Breanna Whitley attend & present at the Botany 2018 (BSA, etc) meeting.

August 2018, The second SUPERB Scholarship Summer Institute in Touch of Nature (Carbondale, IL), funded by the S-STEM program of NSF.
